The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued a tsunami warning following the 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Taiwan on Wednesday, the strongest quake experienced by the country in 25 years.
The Philippines ordered that its coastal region fronting the Pacific Ocean be evacuated, in expectation of "high tsunami waves."
Earlier, an alert was issued in Okinawa, Japan, with a tsunami wave reaching the country's Yonaguni island shortly after.
