Polish regulator sues T-Mobile for 'misleading advertising'

T-Mobile Polska SA could face a fine of up to 10% of total annual revenue if found guilty on charges proceeded by the Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, UOKiK, over "misleading advertising," Tomasz Chrostny, the regulator's head, revealed in a statement.

According to the head of UOKiK, the slogan "1200 GB free for a year" used by the Polish mobile network operator to advertise internet packages allegedly differs from the actual offer, which is subject to fees and grants 100 GB Internet packages "each month for a maximum of 12 months," provided the customer renews the offer on "a regular basis at a cost of at least 35 zlotys ($7.99)."

"After reading the advertisement, the consumer should have a general, but realistic, idea of the presented offer," Chrostny said.
