The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced on Friday that the archipelago country will provide Ukraine with advanced land mine detectors as that nation continues to endure Russia's military operation.
Ukraine will receive advanced landmine imaging systems (ALIS), developed in Japan but known primarily for their use in Cambodia following that country's civil conflicts and the war with Vietnam. This represents a joint venture between the three countries as Cambodia previously confirmed it will send its demining experts to help Ukraine with the process.
"It's important that the entire international community shows support, not just Japan or the G7 [Group of Seven]," a representative for the Japanese Foreign Ministry told the media. "We believe it is meaningful that we can support Ukraine's restoration together with Cambodia."
