The Labour Party is set to win 35% of the votes in the next general election in the United Kingdom and the Conservative Party would get 23%, according to a poll by Focaldata for campaign group Best for Britain published on Wednesday. This would translate to up to 470 seats in the House of Commons for Labour, compared to 123 for the Conservatives. The Tories currently hold 356 seats, ahead of Labour at 194, with the next election to be held by January 2025.
However, the poll said that 12% of the 10,140 respondents are undecided, which could translate to more votes for the Tories, according to their education profile. In addition, if the right-wing Reform UK party stands aside in favor of the Conservatives, Labour could win only 316 seats, with Conservatives on 286, meaning neither party would win an outright majority.
