Chinese pioneer in autonomous mobility Pony AI Inc. announced on Thursday that it has become the first company authorized to operate fully driverless commercial robotaxi services in Shenzhen's Nanshan District.
Co-founder and CEO James Peng stated that the launch will boost public trust in driverless technology and prove its capabilities in Shenzhen’s complex urban conditions. he noted that the company sees this as a pivotal step toward broader commercialization across China's tech hub, as the start-up's robotaxi services now cover key economic and transportation hubs across Shenzhen. In November, the company raised $260 million in its United States debut.
