European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Saturday said that the European Union decided to significantly increase humanitarian aid to Gaza by tripling its assistance.

The move will bring the total to €75 million, with an additional €50 million dedicated to addressing the critical needs in the region.

Von der Leyen went on to emphasize the bloc's cooperation with the United Nations to ensure the efficient delivery of aid to those affected. "The Commission supports Israel's right to defend itself against the Hamas terrorists, in full respect of international humanitarian law. We are working hard to ensure that innocent civilians in Gaza are provided support in this context," she concluded.
