Pope Francis will be discharged from Rome's Gemelli Hospital on Sunday after more than a month of treatment for a severe respiratory infection, his medical team announced Saturday.
The 88-year-old pontiff will return to the Vatican for an extended recovery period.
Dr. Sergio Alfieri, the chief surgeon at Gemelli, said Francis will need two months of rest and reduced public engagements to recuperate fully.
