Paul Atkins was sworn-in as the chair of the United States Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), the agency said in a statement.
"I am pleased to join with my fellow Commissioners and the agency’s dedicated professionals to advance its mission to facilitate capital formation; maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets; and protect investors," Atkins stated.
He previously served as a commissioner of the SEC from 2002 to 2008 and was also the chief executive of Patomak Global Partners. President Donald Trump nominated him to lead the SEC in January while the US Senate confirmed him in his position earlier this month. Atkins is known for his pro-crypto stance.
