The Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 0.3% in the United States in July from the previous month, according to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday. The PPI grew by 0.8% compared to July 2022. The rise in producer prices was attributed to a 0.5% growth in the index for final demand services, while final demand goods prices added just 0.1% month-on-month.
The PPI for final demand excluding foods, energy, and trade services moved up 0.2% in July on a monthly basis, the largest increase since February, according to the report. Annually, prices for final demand excluding foods, energy, and trade services advanced 2.7%.
