Putin, Assad confirm developing relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad asserted that the relationship between their two countries is continuing to develop, RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday.

Speaking in a meeting during Assad's visit to Moscow, Putin noted that Russia and Syria are "in constant contact," stressing the success of their joint efforts in fighting terrorism.

Assad thanked the Russian leader for his "steadfast position in the international arena" and shared Damascus' support for Russian operations in Ukraine.
