Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday suggested that Moscow rejoin efforts to resolve the issue of Israel and Palestine, emphasizing the importance of reviving the Middle East peace process through the Quartet, a diplomatic group formed in 2002 comprising the United Nations, European Union, United States, and Russia.
Speaking to reporters from BRICS countries, Putin underlined that the Quartert could also be expanded to include the efforts of other nations to resolve the Middle East issue.
The Russian president also expressed confidence that the Israel-Palestine matter could be discussed at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, stressing Moscow's support for the United Nations Security Council's two-state solution as the pathway to resolving the conflict. Additionally, Putin underlined that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been invited to join the BRICS summit.
