Russian President Vladimir Putin (pictured) called the Nord Stream leaks "sabotage" and an "act of international terrorism," the Russian Office of the Presidency said in a statement released Thursday following a telephone conversation between the Russian president and his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"The President of Russia gave a principled assessment of the unprecedented sabotage, in fact, an act of international terrorism against the main gas pipelines Nord Stream-1 and Nord Stream-2. It was noted that Russia brings this issue to an urgent discussion in the UN Security Council," said the statement.
According to the press release, Putin and Erdogan also discussed the results of the referendums held on September 23-27 in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions on accession to the Russian Federation.
