Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday, during a meeting with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, that he supports Cuba's attitude towards the anti-Russian sanctions.

"The Russian Federation has always opposed restrictions, embargoes and blockades. We see that Cuba is taking the same position towards our country," Putin noted. The head of Russia called for the further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, his Cuban counterpart commented that the advances of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to the borders of Russia are "unacceptable." Furthermore, he went on to accuse Europe of submitting to the United States' interests.
