Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira stated.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov delivered the invitation to Lula during a personal meeting at the Brazilian leader's residence, according to the foreign minister. The invitation was also previously conveyed to the Brazilian leader during a confidential visit to Moscow in late March.
Lula has not yet confirmed whether he will attend the forum, which is scheduled to take place in June.
