Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that Russia is concerned about the US developing and deploying short—and medium-range missiles, signaling a potential escalation in global arms tensions. The Russian president added that the country needs to boost the production of its Oreshnik hypersonic missiles.
Speaking at the expanded meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense Collegium in Moscow, Putin also accused the United States of encouraging conflict in Ukraine by supplying weapons and other aid. "The US is creating new alliances that undermine the established security architecture created over decades," he added.
