Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club event, Putin highlighted that "relations with China are unprecedently open and effective." He further asserted that he considers Beijing a "close friend and an ally."

The head of Russia commented that he is confident his country will achieve $200 billion in trade with China, its biggest partner. "The parties are moving toward this goal at a higher-than-anticipated pace," Putin concluded.
