Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on Monday about Pope Francis' death, saying that leaving the world during the Easter holiday is a "special sign."

"The fact that the Pope passed away during Easter - I don't know about Catholics, but Orthodox people have this understanding, a traditional understanding, that if the Lord calls a person to Himself during Easter, this is a special sign that the person did not live his life in vain, did a lot of good," Putin said while answering journalist questions.
