Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that his country could contribute to solving the "acute stage" of the conflict between Israel and Palestine due to the close link held with both sides.

"We have very stable business relations with Israel. We have had friendly relations with Palestine for decades. Our friends know this. In my opinion, Russia could also do its part, its contribution to the settlement process," he noted. Also, he pointed out that "the intensity [of the war] is such that anything like this is seen anywhere [else]." Regarding the reported calls for Palestinians from Gaza to leave towards Egypt, he said that "does not promote peace" because "the land where Palestinians live is historically their land."

Earlier, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would maintain a "balanced approach" in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
