Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that his country is seeking to develop its nuclear arms further, notably its nuclear triads, a structure consisting of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), and strategic bombers with atomic bombs and missiles.

Speaking to the graduates of the country's higher military education schools, Putin stressed that Russia will continue to invest and improve its army and develop new types of military equipment. He also underscored the importance of maintaining quality in the country's law enforcement, special, and intelligence services, noting their importance for national security.

Putin's remarks came a day after he hinted that Russia could change its nuclear doctrine and lower the threshold for using such arms in the West.
