RBA's Hunter flags inflation's toll on Australian households

Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) Assistant Governor Sarah Hunter addressed Australia's economic landscape during the AFR Business Summit.

Hunter emphasized that Australia's fourth-quarter GDP aligns with predictions, noting that recent inflation data corresponds to forecasts and identified inflation as the primary impediment to household consumption.

"Inflation the biggest drag on household consumption," she said, adding that households in Australia are "clearly struggling at present."
