The Republican National Committee (RNC) withdrew its draft resolution seeking to declare former United States President Donald Trump as the party's presidential nominee shortly after Trump thanked the RNC but disagreed with the plan, Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Trump went on to say in a post on Truth Social that for the sake of "party unity," the RNC should not go forward with this plan even though they have "more than enough" votes to do it, but instead, that he should do it the "old fashioned way" via ballots.
The former president concluded his post by thanking the RNC for the "respect and devotion" they have expressed for him.
