Israel Defense Forces (IDF) General Staff Chief Herzi Halevi and Israel Security Agency (ISA) Shin Beit Director Ronen Bar told Egypt during their visit to Cairo earlier this month that their country will ensure that its operation against Hamas in the Gazan city of Rafah will not force Palestinian refugees there to flee to the Sinai Peninsula, Axios reported on Monday.
According to two United States officials familiar with the matter, Halevi and Bar informed the Egyptian authorities of Israel's strategy for a possible action in Rafah. They insisted that, if it happened, it would not generate a migration wave of Palestinians to Egypt.
The report came after Israel presented a plan of evacuation for those displaced in Rafah.
