Politician and former presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy officially announced his candidacy to serve as the new governor of Ohio.
Ramaswamy announced his bid during a rally in Cincinnati, stating that he would help put the Buckeye State at the forefront of progress and adding that "we're in the middle of a second Industrial Revolution right now."
The politician initially planned to serve as the co-head of the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with billionaire and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk but said he would seek elected office instead. Ramaswamy endorsed US President Donald Trump's 2024 presidential bid, emerging as one of his key political allies. The election for the state's next governor will be held in November next year. Incumbent Governor Mike DeWine can't seek a third consecutive term under the state's law.
