United States President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, were "in service of one man," referring to former President Donald Trump. He added the protesters, as well as those who incited the riots, "held a dagger at the throat of America and American democracy."
Biden said Trump was "preemptively sowing doubt" about the legitimacy of the 2020 election, saying he "built his lie over months" that the election was stolen from him. Biden noted those who claim election fraud have "never been able to explain how they accept the other elections" that happened on the same day, including governor and legislative votes on the same ballot.
