United Kingdom Prime Minister and Conservative Party's leader Rishi Sunak on Friday conceded defeat in the country's general elections held on Thursday and stressed that he takes personal responsibility for the results.
"The Labour Party has won this general election, and I have called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory," Sunak said in a short speech. He also stated that he would continue to serve as a member of parliament, as he held a seat in Richmond & Northallerton.
"I will now head down to London, where I will say more about tonight's result, before I leave the job as prime minister, to which I have given my all," Sunak concluded.
