Vladimir Rogov, the chairman of Russia's Commission of the Public Chamber on Sovereignty Issues, told RIA Novosti on Sunday that the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) mission should enter the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant "exclusively" through Russia's territory.
"[Any] contacts and visits to the territory [through parts] controlled by [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky's regime" should be excluded from the mission's itinerary, Rogov remarked, citing danger and unpredictability as the main reasons.
Earlier this week, an IAEA vehicle, which found itself some eight kilometers from the front line, was hit by a drone. "I condemn in the most firm terms this attack on IAEA staff. Fortunately, there were no victims ... Attacking a nuclear power plant is a no-go. Attacking those who care for the nuclear safety and security of these plants is also absolutely unacceptable," IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said after the incident.
