The PJSC Rosneft Co will take over the control of the Venezuelan state oil and gas company Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), sources told El Nacional. In exchange, Russia is going to write off the national debt Venezuela has to the country.
According to the reports, Russian experts have already visited PDVSA facilities and estimated the resources needed for the reconstruction that is supposed to happen once Rosneft takes over. "They are already reviewing ships and facilities to determine the real situation of the Venezuelan oil industry," a source stated.
In January, the United States imposed sanctions against PDVSA and its assets in the US estimated to $7 billion.
