United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho-hyun to discuss strengthening the US-South Korea alliance through both economic and military means.
The two officials affirmed the alliance between their two countries, which has "served as the linchpin of peace, security, and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific for more than 70 years." They also discussed "efforts to advance the shared prosperity of the United States and the ROK [Republic of Korea], including by strengthening supply chains and collaborating on critical and emerging technologies, among other efforts."
Additionally, Rubio and Cho welcomed the new US-South Korea trade deal and reaffirmed their commitment to "the complete denuclearization" and "expressed serious concerns about North Korea’s increasing military cooperation with Russia."
