Rubio: Ukraine should have right to defend itself

United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters on Friday that any deal on ending the Ukraine war should assure Kiev it will have the "right to defend itself" from future attacks on its territory.

However, he noted he doesn't want to get too much into the details of a potential deal as the talks have not reached "that level of specifics."

Rubio insisted the war in Ukraine "has no military solution" as neither side has the "strategic capability" to end it "quickly" and reiterated the US wants to resolve it in an effort to stop further deaths. "If they are serious about peace, either side or both, we want to help," he stressed.
