Russian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzya claimed on Monday that the European Union and the United Kingdom do not belong at the negotiating table on the conflict in Ukraine as they are "blinded by primitive Russophobia, their maniacal desire to inflict defeat on our country, on the battlefield, using the Ukrainians who are left alive."
Speaking before the UN Security Council (UNSC), the diplomat insisted that Ukraine should be a "demilitarized, neutral state" that is "not a part of any blocs or alliances." Furthermore, he described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a "professional Ukrainian comic" and "self-proclaimed" leader who "dragged the country into conflict."
Nebenzya's comments came after the EU and the UK were said not to be involved in the upcoming talks between the United States and Russia, widely expected to include the matter of the conflict in Ukraine.
