The Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation announced that Russia's public debt grew by 2.775 trillion rubles in 2023, totaling 25.595 trillion rubles, or 15% of the GDP.
The figure represents a 12.2% increase from the previous year, with domestic debt rising by 2.0318 trillion rubles, or 10.8%, to 20.8128 trillion rubles.
Despite a decrease in external debt in foreign currency by $4.09 billion, its ruble equivalent rose by 743.9 billion rubles, or 7.1%, to $53.3 billion (4.7824 trillion rubles).
