The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) decided on Wednesday the athletes from Russia and Belarus will compete as neutrals at the 2022 Winter Paralympics due to their involvement in the military operations in Ukraine.

"The [IOC Governing] Board was also united in its condemnation of the governments of Russia and Belarus for breaching the UN [United Nations] resolution in the week leading up to the opening of the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. The Board was also in agreement that the breach of the Truce could not go unpunished," the statement read.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) previously advised sports federations to forbid Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete at events due to the situation in Ukraine.
