The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said on Sunday that the regime in Pyongyang is "creating a serious threat," and condemned its hydrogen bomb test, while France's President Emmanuel Macron threatened more sanctions from the United Nations Security Council.
The Kremlin expressed deep concern and warned North Korea it faces "serious consequences" if it continues to breach international law. Its latest move "deserves the strongest condemnation," the ministry added, but called for calm and advised against escalating tension. All interested parties need to turn to negotiations as the only mechanism to overcome issues centered on the Korean Peninsula, it said.
North Korea's "new provocation" warrants quick and firm response by the Security Council to to bring the country unconditionally back to the negotiating table, with the aim to end its nuclear and missile programs, Macron stated.
