The ties between Russia and Rome are "at a good level," but can be improved even further, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio (pictured) said on Thursday.
In an interview with TASS, the minister noted that the sanctions against Russia go against the country's interests, but underlined the importance of adhering to the European Union's common stance on the issue.
"We have always made it clear that sanctions are only an instrument, not an end in themselves, and should serve a broader strategy," he concluded.
