The Russian Defense Ministry claimed on Sunday that Ukrainian forces unsuccessfully attempted to attack Russian positions in parts of the annexed Donetsk region, allegedly violating the Easter ceasefire announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, the ministry said the Ukrainian military carried out shelling and drone strikes in the Russian border regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod, causing damage and civilian casualties.
The ministry also claimed that the Russian military "strictly observed" the ceasefire. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported "isolated attempts" by the Russian forces to advance their position after the truce was proclaimed.
