Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Iran's decision to put the army on high alert is natural concerning the confrontational United States rhetoric.

Peskov stated that the current aggravation of the situation worries Russia after United States President Donald Trump threatened Iran in an effort to reach a nuclear deal. Replying to the question on whether the situation is concerning to Moscow, the Kremlin spokesmen said, "Of course, like everyone else. We hear quite harsh rhetoric. Naturally, the Iranian authorities are taking the necessary preventive protective measures. All this leads to an increase in tension."

He said that Russia believes the main concern in these conditions is to concentrate on the news about the possibility of contacts and added that contacts and dialogues are always better than confrontational actions that can only lead to the escalation of tensions.
