Russian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzya stated on Thursday his country's decision to cancel the vote on its proposed resolution on providing humanitarian aid to the conflict-hit Ukraine.
Nebenzya explained Russia opted for such a step as the Western members of the Security Council (UNSC) are putting "unprecedented pressure" on other countries not to support the resolution. The draft for it, which Russia presented on Tuesday, sought, among other things, the protection of civilians and a ceasefire that would enable a quick and safe evacuation of them.
Moreover, Nebenzya asked the UNSC to hold a meeting on Friday, March 18, on the matter of the alleged United States biolaboratories located in Ukraine.
