Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that assault units from the "Vostok" military group, originating from Buryatia, captured Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) positions in the southern Donetsk region. During the operation, several UAF soldiers surrendered voluntarily.
The ministry said these assault units were supported by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that tracked enemy movements, coordinated troop actions, and provided aerial fire support using kamikaze drones.
The mission's objective was to secure and consolidate the captured positions. "Our task was to enter, clear, establish control, and then withdraw. We did not work in one group, there were many of us. We went in there and cleared everything," a commander noted.
