Russia's Trade and Industry Minister Denis Manturov said on Wednesday that Russia could legalize the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.

"The question is when this will happen, how it will happen, and how it will be regulated," said Manturov, adding that the change "must be legal, correct," and following "the rules that will be formulated," said the minister during the New Horizons educational marathon, organized by the Knowledge society.

In January, the country was contemplating a ban on cryptocurrencies. However, in early February, these considerations were abandoned, and the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allow the exchange of cryptocurrencies under strict regulations.
