Russia's Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection (Rospotrebnadzor) announced on Friday it has lifted all remaining COVID-19 restriction measures in the country due to a steady decline in coronavirus-related deaths.
The consumer watchdog said the decision was brought since as much as 93% of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Russia were considered mild or asymptomatic. However, it warned restrictions could return if the health situation worsens.
Russia recorded to date nearly 18.5 million COVID-19 cases and over 381,000 related deaths, with the peak of the pandemic registered last February.
