Russia requested a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on January 22, Ria Novosti reported on Saturday. The subject of the meeting is the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, according to a source.

Meanwhile, the United States said it will raise the issue of countries supplying weapons to Russia at the Security Council briefing on Ukraine on January 10, following news that North Korea transferred weapons to Russia. "We cannot - and we will not - stay silent as we receive more information that the Kremlin continues to turn to likeminded regimes to try to obtain weapons and equipment to support its brutal war of aggression," US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said.
