The Russian side plans to continue its war against Ukraine if it is not satisfied with the deal to end the fighting, a United States media outlet reported on Thursday, citing people in Moscow familiar with the topic.
While Russian President Vladimir Putin still believes that US President Donald Trump will present him with an "acceptable" peace agreement, he is ready to continue the "military operation" should negotiations fall through, sources told Bloomberg.
Nonetheless, the Russian president is aware that Trump is likely his "best chance" to reach a peace deal with Ukraine. Putin, thus, wants to go down the diplomatic path. Talking about potential new sanctions on Russian oil, the sources explained that the Kremlin is currently not concerned with Washington's threats.
