Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova remarked on Tuesday that the current turmoil in the Middle East, unprecedented in recent history, is a result of Washington's policies which have led to what she described as a "collapse" in the region.

"They [Washington] did everything to isolate this situation, including isolating Israel itself from the possibility of relying on international law only for the sake of its own American ambitions," Zakharova noted, underscoring that the "adventure" of the United States in the Middle East "failed" similar to the "so-called Ukraine project."

The Israeli Defense Forces have reportedly decided on the nature of the response to the Iranian weekend drone and missile attack that Tehran launched in retaliation for the Israeli deadly strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria earlier this month.
