Major stock equities were down during premarket trade on Wednesday as Nvidia Corporation's shares continued to fall, dragging global semiconductor stocks down following the report that the company received a subpoena from the Department of Justice.

The subpoena, reportedly part of an antitrust investigation as disclosed by Bloomberg, triggered a staggering $279 billion loss in Nvidia's market value, marking the biggest one-day wipeout in Wall Street's history. Investors will also be closely watching labor market data, which is set to reveal the latest figures for US job openings in July.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.15% at 4:24 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.61% with Nvidia losing 3.02% in the early trading. The S&P 500 slid 0.39%. The euro rose 0.09% against the dollar, selling at 1.10540.
