Dmitry Polyansky, Moscow's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, called on Israel to end its armed provocations against Syria following the February 19 airstrike on Damascus.
"As a result, 5 people were killed, another 15 were injured. One of the fragments of an Israeli missile intercepted by Syrian air defense fell 300 meters from the building of the Russian embassy in Damascus," Polyansky stated.
"We strongly condemn the military actions taken by Israel, which are a gross violation of international law," the envoy said in his address to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), adding that such actions taken by Israeli Forces are "unacceptable" particularly at a time when the international community is attempting to help Syria recover from the devastating earthquake.
