Russia warns of 'artificial default' due to sanctions

Russia has all the necessary resources to service its debts, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday. However, he stated an "artificial default" is possible if Russia's foreign currency reserves continue to be blocked in other countries and Moscow is not allowed to pay its obligations in rubles.

Asked about the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Peskov said there is a "long road ahead," noting talks are continuing but they are not going as fast or as smoothly as Moscow would like. He called for an "independent investigation" into alleged war crimes in Bucha, stating that Russia cannot accept any probe in which it is not represented.
