The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Tuesday that its aircraft did not use any weapons against or come into contact with the United States military drone that dropped into the Black Sea earlier in the day.

The American drone was flying toward the Russian state border near Crimea with transponders turned off and Russia lifted its fighter jets to identify the aircraft, the ministry specified.

Due to "sharp maneuvering," which caused an "uncontrolled flight with a loss of altitude," the US drone fell into the water, according to Moscow.
