Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov (pictured) said on Thursday that Washington has threatened to retaliate to the arrest and charges brought against Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich in Russia.
Remarking on his meeting with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, the envoy told Russian media that no practical outcome came to fruition.
Gershkovich was branded as "wrongfully detained" by the US State Department on Monday, while Moscow claims that he was caught "red-handed" in the act of espionage.
