French authorities have detained a Russian citizen for organizing a scheme to "destabilize" the Olympic Games in the vicinity of Bordeaux, France 3 TV channel reported on Tuesday.
"A young man of 18 was arrested in the Gironde department on Tuesday as part of an investigation by the anti-terrorist prosecutor's office. He was planning to organize a terrorist attack during the Olympic Games in France," the channel added.
French President Emmanuel Macron previously stated that his country would be ready for any potential terrorist threats during the Olympics, specifically, during the opening ceremony, which will be held on July 26.
