The New Jerusalem monastery, located in Belgorod's Valuysky district, was completely destroyed in a fire following an alleged drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Thursday.
The Belgorod Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church stated on Telegram that there were no casualties. Meanwhile, RIA Novosti cited sources claiming that two drones were involved in the strike and several people sustained minor injuries.
The incident comes shortly after United States President Donald Trump called on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to halt the bombing of Kiev, following a wave of Russian combined attacks on the Ukrainian capital.
